world war 1 helmet steel hat army military WW11 2 ZG 66

Up for auction is a metal helmet, guessing war 1 ? Has number on inside rim ( ZG 66 ). Just bought this from a local estate. It is quite rough and looks to of been in a war?  Has a hole very top that has been repaired. Also, side has a repair and a crack on the rim.  Is around 12 1/4 inches x 11 1/4 inches.
