Bank of California was opened in San Francisco, California, on July 4, 1864, by William Chapman Ralston and Darius Ogden Mills. Then on April 1, 1996, the bank merged with Union Bank to form Union Bank of California. In 2008 it was purchased by Japanese Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, and was renamed MUFG Union Bank. Today it simply goes by Union Bank aka
