    Description

    This is a rare, newly described fossil trilobite,
    Adrisiops weugi
    - a Phacopid, from the Middle Devonian of Morocco. The trilobite is sometimes referred to as a 'smiley Phacops'.
    The fossil measures 2.55 inches long  (if flattened), and 1.11 inches wide. The entire specimen, trilobite and matrix, measures 2.3 inches long, 2.0 inches wide and 1.85 inches high. Extremely well-preserved schizochroal lenses are present in both eyes (see pics).
    The right side of the lower thorax has been repaired. In the trilobite -collecting world this is not a detriment. Trilobites are found by smashing open rocks- and the specimen often gets broken as a result. It is rare to find an entire, unbroken trilobite. And if one is found, they usually are sold for a premium amount. Many sellers do not disclose that their fossils have been repaired as the repair is often very well done, and virtually undetectable. I believe in full disclosure.
