    Description

    Offered from the Jurassic of Ningcheng County, Inner Mongolia, China, is a small (8mm) but complete spider, sharply preserved in a white, very fine grained shale.
    All legs and both palps are in evidence, and the cephalothorax and abdomen are articulated. Fossil spiders in sedimentary rocks (vs. fossil amber) are rare indeed, and a very low energy, fine grained sedimentary environment is necessary. The species is possibly an aquatic spider?, and for added interest, there is a single 8mm veined wing of an unidentified insect, very well preserved, on te matrix too.
    Matrix approx 9cm X 3cm X 1.5cm.
    NO reserve for a complete spider from an unusual locality..........
