I know – they don’t look like nailheads,do they?
The term is used to describe beads witha flat back, having stringing holes run though them from side to side.
They are used whenever you want a beadthat’s flat on the back and will sit flat on whatever you are making – whetherit is costume jewelry, appliqué,
card orscrapbooking. You can use them for clothing or costumes – just don’t sew themon anything you plan to machine wash, because they are made of glass.
In this particular case the backs of thebeads are actually hollowed out which – if you were using a lot of them, woulddecrease the weight of the piece minimally.
These attractive
beads are extremelywell made, and date back to the early to mid
