This is an extraordinary seminal folk / blues item from my personal collection.  It doesn't get much cooler than this!
This is an original (printed BEFORE the concert) handbill / flyer advertising a series of four concerts entitled:
THE MIDNIGHT SPECIAL AT TOWN HALL which was produced by the famous pioneer and ethnomusicologist Alan Lomax.  This was part of a bi-monthly series of midnight concerts that began in 1946 designed to expose 1940s New Yorkers to a variety of music they had not previously experienced.  This handbill advertises four of these shows:
Honky Tonk Blues - March 1, 1947 which is documented as featuring:
Big Bill Broonzy
,
Memphis Slim
,
Sonny Boy Williamson
, Sidney Bechet, Pops Foster and James P. Johnson.  If you google "Midnight Special at Town Hall" (in quotes) you will find several historical references to this specific concert, several songs from it featuring Broonzy, Slim and Williamson were recorded by Lomax and appear on the historic recording "Blues in the Mississippi Night"

I have never been able to find any info on who appeared at the last three concerts but the documentation on the first one make this an extremely important piece of early blues history.
The shows were all at the famous TOWN HALL in new York City.
