Wonderful magazine ad and front cover illustration dating to February 1908. Over 109 years old! All original. Edges had to be trimmed to eliminate damage.
Front cover info:
WOMAN'S HOME COMPANION magazine; FEBRUARY 1908 issue; 15 cent cover price; Valentine Number; The Crowell Publishing Company.
Includes an excellent illustration by noted artist / illustrator Howard Chandler Christy.
Reverse side, inside front cover page info:
"CREAM OF WHEAT IS READY" full-page ad with excellent illustration by James Montgomery Flagg.
Info at bottom of page says: Painted by James Montgomery Flagg for Cream of Wheat Company; Copyright 1908 by Cream of Wheat Company.
The page edges had to be trimmed to eliminate damage. The page now measures approximately 10 1/8" x 14 3/4". Edges still have some bumps and minor stains.
It is in overall very good condition, considering it is 109 years old.
I'll place this page inside a plastic sleeve and add a piece of white foam board for protection while mailing by USPS First Class in a bubble envelope.

James Montgomery Flagg (1877 - 1960)
For over thirty years James Montgomery Flagg did illustrations, posters, and portraits. One of his early assignments was a cartoon feature entitled "Nervy Nat." He also illustrated the humorous P. G. Woodehouse stories for many years. One of his best-known illustrations was the "I Want You Uncle Sam recruiting poster. He worked quickly, doing portrait sketches of his friends, including many celebrities, and portraits in oil as well.
Howard Chandler Christy (1873 - 1952)
Howard Chandler Christy first came to public attention as an artist-correspondent during the Spanish-American War. Scribner's and Leslie's Weekly used his drawings and paintings of the war. His famous "Christy Girl" was first used by Scribner's to illustrate a picture titled "The Soldier's Dream." After that he specialized in beautiful-girl pictures for magazine and book illustrations. He was also a popular portraitist, painting such famous people as Amelia Earhart, Charles Evans Hughes, and Mrs. William Randolph Hearst. A muralist in his later years, his most famous mural, The Signing of the Constitution, hangs in the rotunda of the Capitol in Washington, D.C. He also painted the decorations for the Café des Artistes in New York. In 1980 he was elected to the Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame.
