    Description

For auction is this amazing tambourine from Madrid Spain, depicting a matador facing a bull. It measures 5 &1/2" in diameter; the small pom-poms in descending rows of four, three, two and one fall 6 & 3/4" from the bottom of the tambourine. Beside the exterior picture, there is another picture inside. This has an intact sticker naming either the artist or the retailer and lists the address as Madrid. It is unusual to have a paper sticker intact. The pictures are hand-painted either on wood or animal skin. The colors are vibrant and well preserved. One can actually play it and the sound is clear and pleasant. It is in terrific condition. It was a gift to me many years ago.
Since I had never seen another one of these, I tried to look into this and found that one tambourine with a similar picture was sold on Etsy 4 years ago. It was thought to be from the 1960s and was an item from Spain for the tourist trade. Please e-mail me with any questions prior to bidding. Thanks.
