When we first introduced our DD340 (and later DD540) we could guarantee our audio delays "would" solve the lip-sync problem but today audio  can arrive "already" delayed. When that happens there is  NO product that will delay 4K or 8K video and correct lip-sync. But it "seldom" happens so we are making this offer to insure the DD740 will either work for you or you can return it. Try the method we suggest below and if it's too close to be sure you can rest assured we will refund your purchase upon return within 30 days.
You "may" be able to be SURE an audio delay will solve your lip-sync problem if you first make sure ALL audio delays offered by your TV or any of your equipment are set to ZERO or OFF.  Then look "carefully"
at the mouths during close up shots of "talking heads". Look especially closely as the mouths "close" and speech stops. If  the speech sounds end "before" you see the mouths close an audio delay is what you need to solve the problem.  Unfortunately today there are broadcasters and some equipment manufacturers who "delay" the audio.  If that is the case you will notice the speech sounds continue "after" the mouths close indicating the sound has already been delayed too much and there is no product to delay 4K or 8K "video" and correct that problem. Luckily that does not occur often but when it does there is nothing on the market which can correct it. (But if it's close it's impossible to tell which way it's off without a product like the DD740 to shift the audio in 1 ms steps BOTH ways until lip-sync is perfect which is why we are offering a refund upon return if it does not solve your lip-sync problem.) Even the most expensive AV Receivers often step in huge increments and you can never get it perfect. The DD740 even has a "fine" mode which allows 1/3 ms steps so even the most sensitive viewers can get it perfect.
We have a few DD740's whose color packaging was damaged in a flood but work fine. These units were not actually wet but cartons below them were and some water went through the cartons by capillary action and damaged the packaging. Please note the photos are of the normal undamaged packaging. The DD740's were inside 4 cartons as well as being wrapped in plastic. We are offering those units (with discolored color packaging) with full warranty for 9 until all are sold. If you are not giving these as a gift and would discard the packaging anyway this is a great way to save on a brand new DD740 with full warranty. In the past we have asked those interested to use eBay's contact seller feature but recently decided to create this separate listing for the ones with cosmetic damage to their packaging. Digital Audio Lip-Sync Correction
Felston lip-sync correction devices solve lip-sync error by allowing you to delay the digital audio signal to match the delay* in the video signal restoring perfect lip-sync.
The DD740 is inserted in the digital audio path between your video source (STB, DVD, DVR, etc.) and your AV receiver (or sound bar) . You will need access to a Toslink (optical) or coax digital sound signal. Since the DD740's "bit-perfect reproduction" does not change the digital audio signal, it is compatible with PCM and all present and future s/pdif
surround sound formats such as Dolby and DTS at both 48 KHz and 96 KHz.
Since there is nothing in the video or audio signal to define when they were ever in sync it is a subjective adjustment and this is where the remote control excels. It remembers the last delay setting used on each input and includes 36 presets where common delays can be stored for instant recall. But most importantly, the + and - buttons allow dynamic
"on-the-fly"
delay adjustments in 1 ms steps (1/3 ms in fine mode) while watching with no image disturbance - an essential feature allowing tweaking for "perfect-sync". These are necessary features for true lip-sync correction and not generally available on even the most expensive AV receivers that claim a lip-sync delay feature.
* Normally lip-sync error is due to video delays in both the arriving signal as well as in the display allowing audio to arrive too soon but when broadcasters over-correct for the video delay the arriving signal might have audio delayed instead of video.
At first thought it might appear the DD740

could not correct for "
already delayed audio
in the arriving signal"  but in conjunction with the video delay of your LCD, DLP, or plasma display it actually can - up to the display's video delay. That is, if your display delays video 100 ms your DD740 will correct lip-sync errors from 100 ms audio
lagging
to 580 ms audio
leading. That assumes your TV allows you to turn OFF any audio delay it adds. Samsung and Vizio allow setting audio delay to zero but Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba, etc. usually don't so in those cases you should route digital audio directly from each source to your DD740 bypassing the TV.
The DD740's output is optical and/or coax digital and therefore compatible with most AV receivers as well as "most" soundbars.  Please note it is NOT analog so if you need an analog stereo output you will need a digital to analog converter (DAC). We offer an excellent one eBay:
