Description
Name: Eldredgeops (Phacops rana) norwoodensisAge: Middle Devonian
Formation: Cedar Valley Formation
Location: Johnson County, Iowa
Size: Larger trilobite is about 2 inches long!
This is an excellent double example of a rare trilobite. It is a very displayable pair of Eldredgeops (Phacops rana) norwoodensis from Iowa. This classic specimen came directly from the famous DeRosear Collection. There is one nice outstretched bug and one somewhat curled trilobite on the plate. The distinct trilobites are very inflated and 3-D. The striking bugs have a beautiful brown-colored exoskeleton and great detail preserved. The extinct arthropods are well centered and beautifully displayed on the rectangular block of limestone. And both bugs are fully natural to the plate, not composited! This is an impressive multiple plate of very hard-to-find US trilobites from the DeRosear Collection. (Second photo taken in direct sunlight.)
