    Description

    Ceraurus pleurexanthemus:
Middle Ordovician. Trenton Group (Walcott Rust Quarry)
    Herkimer County, New York.
Size: The larger specimen is 3/4” in length, the smaller 3/8” on a small plate.
Both show some surface abrasion. The smaller specimen is complete.
It is a very nice association plate.
About ten years ago there were quite a few of these available.
Unfortunately, the zone from which these were collected ran out.
So, if you did not add one to your collection then, here is your chance.
Back in 1870 a twenty-year-old Charles Doolittle Walcott stumbled upon a
promising outcrop of Ordovician rock that would become one of the world’s
most famous and productive trilobite quarries.
The historic Walcott/Rust Quarry. It is worth a google search to study
and enjoy the long history and characters involved. It is still active today.
