Crystal Cats Whisker Galena Wireless Set Radio Receiver Marconi Era Early 1920s

Description

Early crystal radio wireless receiver set dating to 923. "Suitcase" style by Siemens.  Looks to be unused and is in pristine "museum" condition.  Leatherette case with headphone compartment and carrying handle and lock  (with key).  Complete with Siemens headphones with Siemens plugs.  Quality cat's whisker - crystal detector with two spare screw-in crystals.  Swinging plate tuning (similar to the Marconi sliding plate design used in their crystal sets) - comes with a no.35 removable range block for the "broadcast band."  Nickel-plated fittings are shiny and bright.  Case measures approximately 10 x 14 x 4 inches.  Sockets for two pairs of headphones and aerial, antenna and earth, ground.
A wonderful, "museum quality" example of a rare (overused term, but this one is) radio from the dawn of domestic radio broadcasting in the home.  Almost 100 years old. Complete and all original.  Looks to unused.  I see no reason why this could not be brought to working, but it is untested and is sold as a collector's display item.  Displays beautifully - it would be hard to find a better one !  See photos.  Price reflects quality, condition and scarcity.  This one is for the serious collector !
