Description:
This is a Japanese ceramic handmade Maneki-Neko( or beckoning cat) with his calligraphy.
It is believed that Maneki-Neko beckons lucky fortune.
This is very special and artistic. Why?
Because, it was 100% handmade by a
81 years old potter artist
Yuzuru Watanabe (1940 - ).
He is living with 6 cats and vigorously working at his own kiln in outskirt of Tokyo.
I bought this cat directly from him at his kiln. At that time he gave me his calligraphy (at the back of the cat in photos) and asked me to wrap the Manek-Neko when I ship it to a customer. I will do so.
The artist drew his belief with Japanese
calligraphy brush:
- on Washi (traditional Japanese paper):  Cherry is in half blossom. A bit tipsy.
