ANTIQUE CREAM OF WHEAT FRAMED ADVERTISEMENT
Striking and lovely antique CREAM OF WHEAT framed under glass advertisement measuring about 14-1/3" tall by 11-1/3" wide. Featuring a lovely young woman in floral dress with low bodice, she stands holding a large rake in one hand and a wonderful blue watering can in the other - love the oversize floral straw picture hat! Printed with a humorous little verse: "MISTRESS MARY, QUITE CONTRARY, HOW DOES YOUR GARDEN GROW? WITH WHEAT SO NEAT, AND CREAM SO SWEET, AND POSIES ALL IN A ROW". Produced by the Nabisco company, advertisement dates to 1905 -- you can see Rastus the chef in the background.
Condition is very nice -- this has been professionally framed, taking advantage of the lovely pink and blue colors within the ad, it is double matted in in the same tones -- wood frame is also blue - lovely. Complete with paper dust cover, wire hanger, original label and even tiny felt pads to protect the wall, colors are vibrant and image is so pretty! Think it would be a wonderful addition to any advertising collection or display!
