    Description

    This Moore's Creek amethyst scroll flask was designed in NC and made by Clevenger Brothers' Glassworks. It is a reproduction only in the sense of its shape, which was used in earlier centuries. It was made in the very limited quantity of 215 bottles back in 1975 and was created to commemorate North Carolina's contribution to the Revolutionary War. There is a Clevenger sticker on the side of the bottle attached by Clevenger. Some bubbles in the neck. Pontil base. This flask stands 7 1/4" x 5" wide at largest area. The front panel shows an overall view of the lower Cape Fear and a bridge, along with a soldier with a gun. This is embossed on the reverse that it commemorates "the first decisive victory of the Revolution" although some think it more of a skirmish and a routing than a heavy battle. Colonel James Moore and Alexander Lillington are also commemorated. The bottle is accompanied by a brochure put out by the State of North Carolina for the Bicentennial to picture and comment on some of North Carolina's Revolutionary firsts.
